Conflict as Care (full series)
Are you looking for ways to expand your toolkit in navigating conflict? Have you decided that you want to engage in conflict generatively but are unsure of how to do so? Join us for one (or all) of our upcoming workshops focused on nurturing healthy conflict as an act of care: for ourselves, for our relationships, and for our movements.
In these workshop sessions you can expect to:
Deepen your understanding of what conflict is
Explore how conflict shows up in your bodies and in your life
Understand how conflict can be generative and bring us closer together
Explore embodied and trauma-informed approaches to conflict
Practice with tools to help us navigate challenging conflicts while remaining aligned with our values
Learn alongside others interested in expanding their conflict skillsets
These workshops will include somatic check-ins, a relational community of practice, introduction of tools, practice time, reflection prompts, small and large group discussion, and some playfulness. You can enroll in one or multiple workshops, with a discount offered for those who sign up for the whole series.
4/18 Session 1: Conflict & Self: How do I show up in conflict?
In this session we will explore how conflict shows up in your life and how you tend to engage with it. Learn more about your different conflict styles in different contexts through compassionate self inquiry.
4/25 Session 2: Conflict & the Body: How are conflict patterns stored in the body?
In this session we will dive into the somatics of conflict. How do past traumas and attachment needs influence how your body responds to conflict today? You will practice tuning into your body and holding yourselves and others gently while using somatic tools to support a grounded and resilient conflict approach.
5/2 Session 3: Power and Justice: How can I navigate the ways power dynamics and oppressive systemic structures impact conflict?
In this session we will map out complex power dynamics as they relate to conflict and offer ways to navigate them. We will practice tools to assess choice points before, during, and after conflict while deepening an understanding of how systems of oppression shape how conflict shows up in our communities.
5/9 Session 4: Conflict Communication: How can I communicate well in conflict?
In this session we will work on aligning your conflict response with your values so that you can move away from a desire to be right and towards a space of reaching a mutual goal and adding more depth to your relationships through conflict. We will practice communication techniques for navigating hard conversations and begin to explore the importance of repair in conflict.
5/16 Session 5: Conflict Sandbox: How can I practice these conflict skills and tools even when I’m not in it?
In this session we will use tools from Theatre of the Oppressed to practice engaging in past, current, or roleplay conflicts that speak to our lives.
Optional Follow-Up – Conflict Coaching: Get 1:1 support from our conflict coaches to support you in unpacking your own conflict system or exploring a current conflict in your life that you would like to move through with more ease.

Sessions will be two hours facilitated over zoom with breaks for participants. Sessions will not be recorded for confidentiality. If you have other accessibility needs we should be aware of please let us know in the registration form. We will do our best to accommodate all accessibility requests.
ICC workshops are designed to be participatory and we invite you to be present and engage in the workshop many ways including being on video (understanding that this might not always be possible), interacting with a shared slide deck, discussion in small groups, using reactions, and answering or asking questions in chat or aloud. We will also practice somatic activities so being somewhere private where you feel comfortable to stand up, sit down, move around, and/or be vocal will be helpful.
